RIP Brother
Roy - I just returned from touring in Europe and was deeply
saddened to learn that Roy Shirley had passed away and it
seemed a bit unreal because I had just seen him a few weeks
earlier at the SNWMF.
It was great to
see him again after not seeing him for over 30 years and he
reminded me that he was the first artist to take Soul Syndicate
into the recording studio to record a song called Flying Reggae.
I always thought it was Bunny Lee who was the first to take
Syndicate in the studio but he reminded me it was him.
I will always
remember the times we backed him on stage shows in Jamaica as he
was such an incredible performer and people loved him. Roy
was a very unique and talented artist and very humble as well.
He will be greatly missed and my sympathies go out to his family
and friends. Jah Bless.
